Xcell Therapeutics Signs MOU with the Korean Society for Stem Cell Reshearc

Xcell Therapeutics announced today that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korean Society for Stem Cell Research (KSSCR). The agreement is for the development of advanced regenerative medicine and advanced biopharmaceuticals in Korea and win-win cooperation.

Xcell Therapeutics has been sponsoring product exhibitions at the annual conference organized by the Korean Society of Stem Cell Research (KSSCR). Under the agreement, the KSSCR will run educational and academic programs related to stem cells. The company will support KSSCR's educational symposia and regular conferences, online seminars, and corporate workshops related to advanced regenerative medicine and advanced biopharmaceuticals.

"The advanced regenerative medicine and advanced biopharmaceutical industries need to take a leap forward in terms of quantity and quality," said Dr. Lee. "We hope that our support will be the basis for the creation of meaningful agendas for the society and the support of outstanding researchers."

The Korean Society for Stem Cell Research was established in 2005 to support the academic activities of stem cell researchers. It conducts academic activities across related research fields, such as holding academic events and publishing academic journals.

In particular, in 2019, it held an international symposium in collaboration with the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR). Following the winter conference earlier this year, the company is striving to revitalize stem cell research by holding its annual conference at the Swiss Grand Hotel in Seoul on August 11-13.

Xcell Therapeutics is the world's first company to develop cGMP-grade stem cell chemistry-free serum-free medium (hMSC) and has been recognized for its medium technology both domestically and internationally. It operates a GMP-grade Yongin production plant with an annual production capacity of 100,000 liters. It was selected as a bio-innovative company in 2020 and received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award. Last year, the company was awarded the New Excellent Product certification, the most prestigious certificate issued by the Korean government.
